SeaBird Designs Qanik review in Canoe & Kayak US

The racy Greenland-style boats from Norway’s SeaBird Designs make their North American debut, headlined by the 17-foot, 10-inch Qanik, available in three composite layups. Designer Björn Thomasson took cues from the 1959 Illorsuit skin-on-frame that inspired Valley’s cult classic, the Anas Acuta. But whereas the original Greenland hunting kayaks were slow and ultra-low volume, Thomasson stretched out the Illorsuit’s graceful lines, raised the deck to provide ample volume to pack five days of food and gear, and created a slender, hard-chined hull that’s fast and highly maneuverable.”
