The International Paddle Sports Trade Show, Paddle Expo, held at the International Exhibition Centre in Nuremberg, Germany, took place on 18th -20th September this year and once again Seabird Designs of course took part of it also. It is a trade show where you can find everything for paddling – kayaks, canoes, SUP boards, paddles, accessories and many more and this year there were 270 exhibitors in two huge linked halls, everyone from buyers, manufacturers and distributors to wholesalers, press and organisations. Although it is a trade show and not open for the general public, the 3 days were very hectic, interesting and fun!
Anders Nyholm is an ex sailing athlete from Roskilde, Denmark. He’s won several national championships, the Nordic championship, the Europe Cup and participated in the Olympics in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.
Fylkir Sævarsson is the very successful Icelandic paddler, elite open water swimmer and cyclist, who in 2012 became the Danish National Champion in Ocean Racing and winner of the Tour de Gudenå with his offshore racer SeaBird Sport 600.
Belgian explorer and adventurer Louise-Philippe Loncke, who is mainly known of his solo expeditions on dry land, took a SeaBird Designs H20 for “a little spin” aka BelgiKayak expedition.
We are delighted to announce that all SeaBird Designs 2012 skeg composite models come with new powerful and reliable KS-retractable skeg system pro by Kajak Sport! The system includes completely new skeg control unit and it can be installed to the deck of the kayak with or without recess. The new control unit can also be combined with other skeg systems.
Estonian skier, Siim Sellis, reached the semifinal on the FIS World Cup in Lahti, Finland this year where he ended as number 10. Estonian Ski Association elected him as the Male Skier of the Year.
My paddle story
I lost my legs two years ago in a worksite accident. I was lucky I survived. Today I am left with two stumps, ending mid-thigh, something that has made it difficult to have good prosthetics made. At Sunnaas, a rehabilitation centre, I learned to be self-sufficient in a wheelchair. I have a car that has been adapted, and that has helped me reclaim a more independent life.
